Creep Model Capturing Vacuum Preloading
The application of prefabricated vertical drains combined with vacuum and surcharge preloading is one of the most effective and environment friendly ground improvement technique, in which the natural atmospheric pressure is used to generate suction with the help of a vacuum pump. The main function of vertical drain facilitated with vacuum and surcharge preloading, is to speed up the consolidation process by shortening the drainage path thereby reducing the post consolidation settlement. However, most of the very soft clay deposits undergo creep settlement which result an increase in pore water pressure. The main aim of this research is to analyse the creep behaviour of soft soil improved with vertical drains and vacuum preloading.
